Deaccession Process on eBay



1.   Determine what is to be auctioned.
        a.  Not allowed on eBay: Firearms, items made of ivory including canes,             chess pieces, figurines, jewelry, and scrimshaw. Inhumane animal traps,              certain nude or offensive artwork.
        b.  Large or heavy items such as furniture, statues, farm or industrial              machinery may be sold but may be best done as a "pickup only" item              where the winning bidder will be required to pick the item up as              opposed to having it shipped.

2.   Determine if an item is suitable for auction.

3.   What is known about the item's provenance, or other pertinent information which may aid in the sale of the item.

4.   If item, items are deemed appropriate for auction they must be delivered to auctioneer, or arraignments made to have the items picked up.

5.   Item photographed for auction.

6.   Write up completed with information supplied by consignor, or if none available item researched.

7.   Research on item will determine what category or categories item will be placed hi as well as appropriate starting price when listed on eBay.

8.   Item listed on eBay.

9.   Questions answered from prospective bidders.

10.  If item sells winning bidder invoiced.

11.  Ship item to winning bidder when payment is received.

12.  Consignor payment issued per contract terms.

13.  If item is not sold, item will be re-listed one time. If item still does not sell consignor will be notified to pickup item.
