Children's Water Power School Vacation Camp, April 20-23

The Historical Society of Cheshire County will host a four-day school vacation camp for children in grades 3 to 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20 through Thursday, April 23. The camp will explore the importance of water to the history and development of Cheshire County. The camp will include a visit to a former water-powered mill, experiments using different kinds of water wheels to determine how much energy a water wheel can produce, and building a miniature mill with a working water wheel.

Chesterfield teacher, Laurel Powell, will teach this camp. The cost for the four-day program is $100 for members of the Historical Society and $120 for non-members. Enrollment is limited to 12 children. Each participant needs to bring a snack, drink, and lunch each day.

Registration is required by contacting HSCC at 352-1895 or hscc@hsccnh.org. The Historical Society is located at 246 Main Street in Keene. For further information, contact Tom Haynes, Director of Education at the Historical Society or visit the website at www.hsccnh.org.
