HSCC to Host an Immigrant Experience Story Circle

Do you have an immigration story to tell? Then we want to hear your story.

In association with the exhibit on immigration, Coming to Cheshire County: The Immigrant Experience, the Historical Society of Cheshire County will host a story circle that will focus on the experiences of those who have immigrated to Cheshire County. In addition to the written stories and photographs collected for the exhibition, HSCC wishes to collect additional stories to be preserved. As with the exhibition, HSCC is curious about why individuals and families left their homeland. Of all the places to settle, why Cheshire County? Were there opportunities in the county to start anew, or did they create their own opportunities? What kinds of discrimination did they experience once they arrived? These questions are at the heart of the exhibit and HSCC wants to hear and collect these story.

Please join us for an afternoon of stories on Sunday, October 4th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The story circle is free and open to anyone whose wishes to share a story about their family's experience, and for those wanting to listen and learn more. It is HSCC's hope that we all gain a deeper appreciation of the different ethnic groups who have enhanced our lives here in Cheshire County. HSCC is located at 246 Main Street in Keene. For further information, please contact HSCC at 352-1895 or hscc@hsccnh.org.
