Local Firearms Manufacturing Topic of Wyman Tavern Lecture

Alan Rumrill, the Historical Society of Cheshire County's director, will present a lecture on Firearms Manufacturing in Cheshire County on Thursday September 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wyman Tavern Museum. This presentation is the third in a series of summer lectures held at the Wyman Tavern entitled Muskets, Militia, and Firearm Manufacturing. The lectures are associated with the Tavern's summer exhibition on Muskets, Shotguns and Pepperboxes.

Rumrill will examine the region's firearms industry from the 1780s to the 1880s. Using numerous antique firearms from Cheshire County, he will also discuss individual firearms manufacturers from this region who produced guns for local and national markets. Assisting with this presentation will be local gun historians Bob Corrette of Fitzwilliam and Bill Stewart of Jaffrey.

Keene's Historic Wyman Tavern is located at 339 Main Street in Keene. The lecture is free and open to the public with donations encouraged. Reservations are requested due to limited seating. For further information or to make a reservation, please call HSCC at 352-1895 or by email at hscc@hsccnh.org.
