"Marley's Christmas Carol"

Historical Society Presents the Christmas Story Behind "A Christmas Carol"

On Saturday, December 13, the Historical Society of Cheshire County will present a production of Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol, a play by Tom Mula performed by the Actors Circle Theatre. The performance is at 3:00 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall of the Historical Society.

Ever wonder what really happened in "A Christmas Carol," and who was really responsible for Scrooge's change in heart? In this version, Marley must save Scrooge to save himself from a damned eternity. This heartwarming tale tells Dickens's classic story with a twist that is sure to warm any humbug heart. This program is free and open to the public, with a $5.00 suggested per person donation encouraged or $15.00 per family. To enhance the Christmas spirit, non- perishable food items will be collected at the door for the Keene Community Kitchen.

The Actors' Circle Theatre is a non-profit organization that offers award-winning theatre to the Monadnock Region. Jacob Marley is played by Don Wilmeth, who is also the curator of the feature exhibit, Actors on the Early American Stage," which is on display at the Historical Society from November 22 through April 4. The exhibit explores the history of the early American Theatre through playbills, posters, letters, photographs, and a variety of other artifacts.
