Candle Making at the Wyman Tavern on Friday, July 10

Learn the Colonial craft of making candles on Friday, July 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join Wyman Tavern interpreter Eric Lindquist and Historical Society Education Director Tom Haynes to make tapered and dipped candles. This is the first of a series of Friday afternoon programs for families at the Wyman Tavern Museum. There is a $5/person or $10/family charge for this program.

The Wyman Tavern Museum, located at 339 Main Street, is one of Keene's most historic structures. The Tavern was built by Captain Isaac Wyman in 1762 and operated as a tavern by the Wyman family for 40 years. It was from this tavern that 29 minutemen started their march to Lexington and Concord in April of 1775 under the command of Captain Wyman, a veteran of the Indian Wars. The Tavern is open for tours Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and by appointment through September 5th.
