Historical Society to Offer Antiques Appraisal Day on May 2

Do you have a treasure that you would like to know more about - a family heirloom or a yard sale find? Is it valuable? Where did it come from? Should it be insured? Bring your treasures (or pictures of your treasures if they are too big to carry!) to the Historical Society of Cheshire County, 246 Main Street in Keene on Saturday, May 2 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and get your questions answered. The Historical Society of Cheshire County is holding an antiques appraisal on that day with appraisers from Skinner Auctioneers & Appraisers of Boston and Marlborough, MA.

Two experienced appraisers from Skinner will be available to examine and evaluate items. They have many years of experience and will be prepared to evaluate objects from all major collecting areas except coins, stamps, jewelry and musical instruments. The appraisers will discuss issues of age and condition, and provide a verbal estimate of the value of the object based on current market prices for similar examples.

Participants are asked to limit the number of items reviewed to three. The cost of participating in the appraisal day is $10 per item or $25 for three items. All proceeds benefit the work of the Historical Society. The appraisals will take place in the Society's main Exhibit Hall. Refreshments will be available, and the Society's permanent exhibit of Kingsbury toys and Cheshire County glass, pottery, and silver will be open for viewing. Refreshments will be available.
