Record Group Number 3

Dublin

Compiled by Alan F. Rumrill - Keene, New Hampshire

March 1983

This very small group consists of one series, "SUBJECT FILE," consisting of one folder of materials. The items in the group cover the years 1814 - c. 1970. The materials are filed chronologically within each subject unless otherwise stated.

Dublin, New Hampshire was granted in 1749 as Monadnock No. 3 to Matthew Thornton and thirty-nine others. The first settlement was made in 1752 by William Thornton. Other early settlers were John Alexander, Henry Strongrnan, and William Scott. The town was incorporated in 1771. 305 persons lived in the town in 1775, 899 in 1790.

This group is a simple mixture of materials of all types. Perhaps the most useful is the five-page biography of Reverend Levi W. Leonard. A twenty-four page lecture on schools given by Leonard before the Common School Association in 1846 is also included.
