Record Group Number 15

Roxbury

Compiled by Alan F. Rumrill - Keene, New Hampshire

March 1983

This group consists of one series, SUBJECT FILE, and is stored in two folders. The group encompasses the years (1787-1858)-1912. The materials are filed chronologically withing each subject unless otherwise stated.

Roxbury, New Hampshire was incorporated on December 9, 1812. It was made up of parts of the towns of Keene, Marlborough and Nelson. The town has an area of 6,000 acres.

This is a good collection whose diversity gives an excellent insight into small town life in New Hampshire during the first half of the nineteenth century. Two subjects, history and schools are quite detailed.

Several items in this collection were donated to the Society by the Landmark Historical Society of Mt. Vernon, New York in February of 1975.
