Marlborough, New Hampshire was granted in 1752 to James Morrison and others and was known as Monadnock No. 5. Abel Woodward, Benjamin Tucker, Daniel Goodenough, and others settled the town in 1760. The first permanent home was established by William Barker of Westboro, Massachusetts in 1764. The town was incorporated on December 13, 1776. The population was 786 people in 1790.

The business materials deal primarily with the Nonadnock Blanket Mills. The poetry for the Davis reunions was written by G. C. Davis and Addie E. Barron.
