Transportation Fund

Would you like to take your students on a field trip to
visit three historical museums in Keene?

But you need transportation!

We have a program that can help.

The Historical Society of Cheshire County and the Horatio Colony House Museum have teamed together to establish a Transportation Fund. This fund will cover the costs of a school bus so your students can visit our museums.

How does the Transportation Fund work?

To plan your day long field trip, contact Tom Haynes at the Historical Society to schedule. Then call First Student (352-2303) to reserve a school bus. That's it. Our 2013 spring school group season is between May 7 and June 21. We hope to offer as many trips as possible on a first come first served basis.

During your visit you will experience a tour at the artifact filled Horatio Colony House Museum, a period dressed interactive tour of the Historical Society's 1762 built Wyman Tavern, and local stories, a scavenger hunt, permanent and feature exhibits at the Historical Society. All three museums are on Main Street and within easy walking distance. We can rotate up to three groups of about 20 students or less with appropriate adult supervision through each museum. There is time for a snack and lunch break, but we have limited indoor facilities. There is a $2.00 admission fee for each student, with a scholarship for any student that is unable to cover this fee.

If you have any further questions please contact either museum. To make a reservation, please contact Tom Haynes.
