Education![]() The Historical Society of Cheshire County offers a variety of educational programs for teachers and students of all ages. College and high school students can learn more about participating in an internship position that HSCC offers each semester. Educators, as well as anyone who is interested in Cheshire County history, will find a wide range of educational material on our Teacher Resources page, with materials available online or by borrowing from our education office at 246 Main Street in Keene. The Historical Society also offers teacher workshops to further the professional development of the region's educators. In addition to the above educational opportunities, HSCC offers guided school group tours and educational events our historic Wyman Tavern and main facilities. In partnership with the Horatio Colony House Museum, a transportation fund has been established to cover the cost of a school bus so student from all over Cheshire County may visit three museum facilities. Built in 1762, the tavern is furnished as a 1770-1820 period house museum. HSCC also houses a permanent exhibit of locally produced glass, pottery, toys, silver and related artifacts, and develops two feature exhibits each year on topics focused on the region's rich history. For further information on any educational program or activity, to reserve any of the Society's classroom materials or schedule a tour, please visit the Society at 246 Main Street in Keene, or contact the Director of Education by email or at 352-1895. |
