Auction of Historic ProportionsAuction of Historic Proportions, 2011 The call of history echoed loudly in Rhodes Hall last month as the Historical Society of Cheshire County presented its fourth annual Auction of Historic Proportions. This event has become the Society's main fund-raising event, and once again the evening was profitable, interesting (even educational at times), and most of all, lots and lots of fun. The Society would like to thank all of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers, as well as our Auction Committee and staff, and most important, our many patrons who did the bidding in both the silent and live auctions, and online. Our sponsors were: The Gravina Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, Kristen's Bistro & Bakery, Ye Goodie Shoppe, Berkley & Weller Greenwood Country Realtors, g. housen, Cheshire Oil Company, Sunflowers Restaurant and Fine Catering, Hampshire First Bank, In the Company of Flowers, Ward & Webb, Monadnock Fine Art Gallery, The Main St. America Group, and Frazier & Son Furniture. Our volunteers and donors included: Doug Mealey and The Interact Program students at Keene High School, Elm City Brewing Company, along with the dozens of donors of quality antiques, collectibles, artwork, gift certificates, and truly unique historical opportunities offered for sale to benefit the Society. The entertainment for the evening was provided by the 20th Century Pops quartet; by a rousing PBS take-off skit entitled "The Antiques Rhodes Show" that was written, produced and directed by Bob Weekes; and by auctioneer pro tem, Peter Heed, who had the audience in the palm of his hand, on the edge of their seats, and rolling in the aisles. Finally, with profound gratitude a rousing thank you goes to our Auction Committee: Susan Landers-Gilbert, Martha Mills, Kelley Manson, Becky Karush, Paula Page, Tony Tremblay, Bob Weekes, and Alan Rumrill. They designed, built, polished and presented us with an event that had a thousand moving parts that all came together at just the right time. Please stay tuned, because we're already working on next year's Auction of Historic Proportions! Art Simington We Wish To Thank Our 2011 Sponsors
